Hi So I've been looking at areas in CA to move when I finish school to become an RN and am really considering LA. (For entry level) I've found that as an RN I'd be making anywhere from $72,000 to $80,000 a year. To me that seems very livable. (I'd have a job secured there before moving obviously) I was wondering what areas in LA are best (safest/lowest crime) especially for someone that would be completely new there. If you think that another area would be better please let me know. I'm just looking for somewhere cultured, gay friendly, and exciting; to me that just radiated California. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank youuu.

You should become a travel nurse and get placed at Cedars, which is close to West Hollywood (gay friendly and cultured). Then if Cedars works out for you, become staff. A big perk about being a travel nurse is they pay your housing and help you get acclimated.

RN in LA area here. Sorry to disappoint you but SoCal isn't the best place for new grads to look for a job. Too many new grads without jobs here. If you have connections in upper management then you would have a good chance but without connections it'll be hard. The first job I found as an RN 2 years ago was because of family connections to the administrator.

I'd 2nd the cedars recommendation and also take note of Tinkerbelle's post. You may want to verify job availability before moving out here. Good thing about your industry is that its growing and enables you to be mobile.
