I think the reason most Angelenos feel less star struck by Hollywood is the same reason why McDonalds workers do not eat at McDonalds. They know how the food is prepared.

Sometimes I do wonder if Angelenos aren't star struck on purpose, so as not to look like an idiot harrassing a celeb for a pic, but at the same time I am sure they theyselves know struggling actors, models and comedians enough to realize how much of the industry is an illusion.

They were both found not-guilty.

Lohan served more time and probation because of her celebrity status. Same with Hilton. What a person in sentenced to and what they serve are two different things in LA County. What people think a person "should serve" and what they end up serving are also entirely different.

I think it has more to do with wealth and the ability to hire better representation, than just celeb status.

Saw Will Smith at Westlake Village Golf Course once on a early (6:15 AM) Tuesday morning. He was on the driving range and was very nice when I saw him.

I was going to ask the obvious question, "famous actors," or "want to be actors?" You're going to treat them differently.

Personally, I'm so bad with names and faces I look at people in general and think they're mildly familiar, but am usually surprised that I've never met them before. So unless it's san actor that I've met or worked with before, I likely won't recognize them.

Seeing "famous" people is really no big shocker to most people in LA because we see them all of the time. We see them at the grocery store, gas station, in restaurants, at Target, in clothing stores and just any other random place that you can think of. My parents have long time friends who are musicians, I went to school with several well known actors (plus few who are also producers and a director) and also attended school with the children of several entertainers so it really isn't a big deal.

Not true! When I see a real famous celebrity, my exact reaction is very close to Will Ferrell's @0:32-0:37

Me too, hee hee. I keep seeing people from "The Office" around, for whatever reason (filmed in Burbank, maybe?), and TWICE (two different times, two different people) I said "Oh... Hey!" to one of them in the way you would say to someone that you think maybe you used to know but can't really place them. They each smiled said something like "Hi," and kept moving. I (like, a minute later) realized that they were an actor.... not someone I used to know.

Another time at a restaurant, I checked out this guy who was kind of hot and had a cute kid with him (my daughter wanted to play with his kid, but he seemed so weird about it so I made her stop "bothering" him). It turned out it was Harry from Mad Men (who was much cuter and thinner in real life). My waiter told me when he left. And I watch the show!

My professor's seen quite a few growing up and he said, "It's not a big deal. They still have to buy diapers and stand in line like everybody else."

I do get a little excited, haha.

How do locals treat actors and actresses in LA?

They tie them up, throw 'em in the trunk, and wait for the ransom. Recession is a rough gig, requiring resourceful action.

In normal times, locals treat celebs like anybody else (well, no, not really, but they don't go nuts like tourists. Stars are residents like everybody else, and ought not be stalked or harassed. Except the lame ones who deserve it).
