I will be doing a 4 week rotation at Harbor-UCLA and found a temporary sublet that matches up with my dates. I was hoping to get some feedback on the location of the complex as far as safety goes. Without giving away the exact address, it is located near the corner of Cabrillo and Carson in Torrance. What is this neighborhood like in terms of safety?

Another issue is that I will have to park my car on the street during this 4 week period (late model Acura, nothing too fancy but not a junker either). Is that something to be concerned about?

I have lived in LA before, although not in the South Bay, so I won't be a total fish out of water.

And my last issue, and this is more of a personal plea for advice more than anything, but when I typed in the address of the apartment complex into google, it came up with at least 3 tennants at this address with criminal records (prostitution, assault with possession of deadly weapon, some probation violation) and another fellow who was apparently disbarred (ie. former lawyer) for whatever reason. I guess most of that is none of my business, but geez, I couldn't help but think that was a red flag. FWIW, the fellow who I will be sharing the place with is a young, educated, and well-adjusted guy, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for your feedback.

I think it is a relatively safe area of Torrance and the criminal records of those around.... welcome to the big city, it is just the way it is. It would not concern me.

It's fine, and you will be walking distance to one of the best Japanese Izakaya-style restaurants - Musha.

That area of Torrance is fine. You'll be down the street from Torrance HS and Del Amo Mall so expect more ruckus from kids getting out of school vs gangbangers. In my experience, most people in the South Bay are respectful of other's cars while parking on the street. If you're worried about it being stolen, I don't think a late model Acura is as hot (read: easily stolen) as a Civic, late 80's Camry, or Integra.

The questionable tenants in your building would be a risk you alone can assess.

Just don't leave stuff visible in your car that would give temptations to kids who got nothing better to do.
