Merci Frenchie, it's nice to read your point of view on our international front. It's disheartening to constantly see the "work the system," "everybody would be just as dishonest if they could get away with it" and "get out if you don't like illegals" as defenses of the new Los Angeles sociology of illegal immigration, and the many rationalizations of new, mean-spirited behavior we Los Angelenos encounter daily from them as normal.

The common immigrant mentality is often mentioned on radio stations such as 97.1 FREE FM: "If you don't like illegals, then you're in the wrong city" or, "If you don't like it leave!" This open-minded (but blinded) view is taking over half Los Angeles! The other half is living in fear. Normal cities DON'T work like this! The illegal immigration problem is the SINGLE biggest ante for driving out the middle class!! Anyone willing to live in decent American life has to move an hour to suburbs such as Thousand Oaks or Chino Hills.
This is a serious problem. Only one of a few hundred problems that these Mexican aliens are causing in this city. Anyone with decent education should understand this.

Wink Thanks for the post

I live in Virginia Beach now and Im doing research for my persuasion speech for more border control. I am retired from the U.S. Navy and have been stationed in San Diego and L.A.. I too remember the good days of the clean and prestine California cities. I lived in Pasadena, Texas, a small town on the south side of Houston, before joining the Navy and remember the nice (a place you want to raise your kids) city. I also remember going home on leave and visiting Pasadena, what a mess, it looked like hubcap heaven. Yes the Mexicans turned this suburban town into a slum!

Just curious...
Sadly, the answer is NO. The State tried to do something with prop. 187 a few years ago, the Supreme Court overturned this prop. that was passed by more than 2/3 of the voting public. I will be voting for those that are willing to try and do something to enforce the laws we have on the books. Those laws are not being enforced. That is a fact.
I live in North West California and it is not as bad as LA, but I know the day is coming when I will have to sell my home and move my family to Oregon or Washington.
I love it here but the writing is on the wall.

Hey i'm hispanic and I went to visit L.A. in 2004 because i was thinking about moving there. After one week, i was like no way! There were so many immigrants, I felt like i was in another country. And i'm from NYC which is the ultimate melting pot, but I did not like L.A. I think in NY, immigrants are busy working, making money and setting up businesses. In L.A. it appears they are just loitering. Couldn't pay me to live in L.A.

If I was a hardworking Hispanic man or woman, I would be angry. It stirs up prejudice and all sorts of issues of personal survival and self preservation in a country that is made up of legal immigrants and ones who are usually grateful to be here and make a contribution to United States and our culture, not try to overtake it and bankrupt us.

I must say we are allowing this to happen. I like many Californians are quilty as charged. We elect out politicians and put up with the complacency. I try to do what I can financially to support any organization or politician that is willing to take on this battle. California is worth fighting for and the time is now or it is likely we will be handing over the keys to one of the most beautiful states in the country or find ourselves fighting to get back our border. Just my opinion. I look forward to others. Thanks for your post.

By the way, I do want to say that there are very hardworking Hispanic people in Los Angeles and all over the country many whom also are not legal. I think this is part of why it is so hard to parce out the who, what, where and how to get rid of or severely restict access illegals have to government services, citizenship for an illegal immigrants baby born on U.S. soil, etc, etc, etc. Renting to illegals should be illegal, I could go down a very long list.

But people outside of our state must know there are some amazing legal Hispanic workers that put me and my work habits to shame and I wanted to make sure to mention and honor them. They and their families lose out with this invasion too. It effects everyones quality of life.

Americans should not give up on California.

If you give up on California, then you might as well give up on the entire Country, because Illegal Immigration is spreading all over.

The liberal media has given much coverage to the issue, but it never seems to point out that the illegal immigration problem in LA has caused CONSIDERABLE quality of life issues.

Our freeways/streets are CROWDED and getting worse every day. When the "day without an immigrant" (google it if you dont know what that was) happened, it took only ~15 minutes to drive to work (~20 mile drive) as opposed to the normal 45 min. drive.

If you are not of hispanic origin, I hope you like reverse racism, as it is blatant everywhere. For the most part, these people HATE "the gringos". Hope your little son knows karate, because the children will pick fights with him at school, as these people come from a "machismo" type of culture, and they are taught from day one that "gringos = ****s". In other words, if you don't fight, you aren't a man.

Everyone, everywhere, speaks spanish. There are billboards in spanish, and the corporations/t.v. stations pander to these people.

If you are looking for the "American way of life", please steer clear of Los Angeles and most of Orange county (except for places like Irvine and Laguna Niguel, which haven't bowed (yet) to illegal immigration supporters. The quality of life in Irvine is EXCELLENT !!!).

I have lived here for all of my life, and this city is on a steady downward spiral, for those of us who have grown accustomed to a certain way of life.

They do not assimilate into society, and they bring their own cultures/traditions to Los Angeles, and generally ruin it for everyone else.

Even the surrounding suburbs within 50 miles of Los Angeles, have become overrun by this social problem.

Again, if you are liberal, or if you sympathize with these illegal aliens, ..... then California is the place for you !!
I JUST WANTED TO SAY IF THE MEXICANS WERENT HERE THEN THIS WORLD WOULDNT RUN......... THE MEXICANS DO NOTHING HERE BUT BUILD OUR **** HOUSES, CUT OUR GRASS, PICK OUR FRUITS AND VEGIES.. THEY ARE HERE TO MAKE OUR WOULD A BETTER PLACE AND THERE FAMILIES. IF YOU COULD TAKE THE TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY LIFE TO RESERCH WHY THE MEXICANS ARE HERE AND SEE WHAT KIND OF POVERTY THEY COME FROM YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND. I AM MARRIED TO A MEXICAN AND I HAVE BEEN FOR 6 YEARS, WE HAVE 4 BEAUTIFUL BABIES. I HAVE BEEN TO MEXICO AND WHEN YOU WALK DOWN THE STREET THERE AND SEE THE KIDS WALKING AROUND WITH THE TOES CUT OUT OF THERE SHOES SO THEY WILL FIT AND THEY DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY NEW ONES YOU WOULD CHANGE YOUR MIND IF YOU HAVE A HEART...... I THINK PEOPLE DONT LIKE MEXICANS HERE BECASUE IT LOOKS BAD TO THE "GRINGOS" BECAUSE THE MEXICANS WILL DO THE WORK A "GRINGO" WONT DO AND YOU EMBARRASSED. THATS ALL IT IS...... YOU ALL NEED TO REALIZE THAT THEY ARE HERE TO KEEP THERE FAMILIES ALIVE AND MAKE OUR LIVES AND OUR ****TY COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE....
