I've been living in New Jersey for the 27 years of my life and want a change of atmoshere. I really want to try California, and no I don't have dreams of becoming a star, or want anything to do with the entertainment business. I'm starting to really hate the cold weather and want to kno what it feels like to live in another state. Thumbs up for California being a sunny state, and I won't be expecting bright blue clouds everyday
:-). My thoughts are I can always return if I don't like it, and atleast I can say I tried it out. I'm researching the southern part of Cali, I also don't want to be in a boring town, unless I'm close to a city that is more exciting and no more than 20 min away. Any suggestions? Oh, and as far as work, I don't want a reg office 9 to 5 I know it sounds weird, but I want to leave that back in Jersey.

There are many sunny states besides CA, cheaper too. What can you do work wise if 9-5 office jobs are off the table? I mean, are you imagining part time or entry level stuff?

Find a job that pays a lot of money then find a nice, safe, affordable place to live near it. It's that simple.

There's lots of reasons to like California, in particular the weather, so can see why you'd like to move here. It isn't cheap, although it's not as bad as what many posters sometimes make out on LA threads, and I imagine NJ is not particularly cheap either. It also has persistently high-ish unemployment, so you need to address the whole job issue first.

What kind of work do you want to do, what kind of work can you do, and what do you like to do when you are not working?
