Hi,
I've been looking for a 5 br place to rent in So Pasadena and it's becoming tougher than i'd imagined. Every time I think i've found one, it's on sale. My family and I are planning to move there in a couple of months(if we find a place). Can someone help or advice me on where the 5br are hiding?

A 5 br home is hard to hide, and homes that size aren't usually rentals. One might come up before you move. Or you may have to squeeze into a smaller place or look in a different city.

There are 349 5-bedroom homes in South Pasadena. Seventeen of them are rentals.

To state the obvious, you have already discovered that the market for large SFR in South Pasadena a re exceedingly rare. I'm over there all the time and have only seen a couple of SFR's for lease and they didn't look like 5 bedroom homes.
I believe your best bet is to hook up with a realtor if you haven't already done so. The homes I saw for lease were through realtors and you probably won't find many (if any) listed for rent by the owners.
Here's one home I found on Zillow (4 bedroom), maybe a phone call to the listing property agency would help you? 1665 Via Del Rey, South Pasadena, CA 91030 - Zillow
Are you flexible on locale? San Dimas is another very nice area that's nearby S. Pas and maybe expanding your search area would help you.

Assuming you are concerned about schools, you'll likely find a better supply of large homes in La Canada, la Crescenta, Arcadia, San Marino, or Temple City.

South Pasadena is a small town with a LOT of smaller houses.

I am concerned mostly about the school district, the commute to work(central la), and that homely quiet neighborhood feel. I've also looked at la Canada and San Marino but San Marino is a bit too pricey. I have noticed how rare the 5br homes are, I guess I should seek some help from a realtor. Could any of you recommend a good one?

South Pasadena is a VERY small city, so you don't have oodles of housing to choose from. Also, South Pasadena is a very old section of the LA area and 5 BR can be rare or have the rooms ridiculously small. Most of the homes are "modest" and relatively small by today's standards, but South Pasadena is a desirable place to live and parts are affluent to modest income. Many of the homeowners have retained the home's original appearance as older homes, but in very good shape. It seems you want a McMansion or some very recent builds that feature 5 BR as appealing to, usually, adult families. You ought to consider other neighboring cities.
