This video captures large parts of LA thats not broadcasted in the media. Such as Westlake, Skid Row, And South of Washington. It looks very poor and grimy.

Thank you for the video. The ugly truth is that LA, with few exceptions, consists of either upper class or working class neighborhoods with the vast aerial coverage in the latter, esp. South-Central, most of Boyle Heights/Highland Park region and most of West Adams.

Either way though I still love LA. Sure, there are some rough areas, but I have no issues with those areas as well. If you can't handle those types of places and need a city that looks like Disneyland at every corner, then LA definitely isn't for you, but if you can handle some of that character, then you'll have a blast here. One of my favorite places to go to is the alleyways of DTLA. Especially los callejones. I'm proud of my city, regardless.

L.A. is not looked down upon, at least not where I am.
Everyone here loves L.A.
And I personally know people who are either from L.A. or have moved to L.A. & absolutely loved it.

Trust me, that lake is probably a brown mud hole right now. Austin is dry as a bone. Texas is experiencing a much worse drought than SoCal and Austin is feeling it. Hard.

Only in some categories, not so in others. They're both pretty safe cities. But that wasn't the comparison.

NYC has a lower crime rate in just about every category. You can check for yourself by doing a crime comparison between NYC and LA on Numbeo.

However there is not much difference and they are both considered to be 2 of the safest large cities.

The lake is still there. The drought is bad but hasn't totally made Austin look like beat. It's still one of the most highly sought after city.

Not sure what a city being "highly sought after" has to do with how severe the drought is. Most of Austin's lakes and streams are dried up.
