So it looks like I'll be moving to LA in the next few weeks and my future roommate and I have been discussing internet and TV options (better to post here than start a new thread).

It's just me and a roommate, so not too many devices, but we will watch a lot of streaming video (my roommate wants the HBO/Showtime/NFL packages and I'm completely indifferent to be honest since I just watch Netflix or other stuff streaming).

Here's the info that we've found:

TIME WARNER (bundle)
$166.08/month (20mbps)
NOTE: Faster internet would be +$10/month (for 30mbps) and +$20/month (for 50mbps)

TIME WARNER (internet only)
20mbps $54.99/month
30mbps $64.99/month
50mbps $74.99/month

DIRECTV (TV only)
$53.99/month for the first 3 months
$82.99/month for the next 9 months
$107.99/month for year 2

DISH NETWORK (TV only)
$121.99/month after the first 3 months

U-VERSE, FIOS, or XFINITY
Not available in the area

---

So, cheapest option appears to be DirecTV w/ the 20mbps Time Warner internet:
$108.98/month for the first 3 month
$137.98/month for the next 9 months
$162.98/month for the second year

VERDICT
****'s expensive, lol. Any tips or suggestions? Or is this about right?

i am moving to la and that is what i plan on doing. but i don't watch tv ever. i am too busy to be sitting around for 30 minutes straight. lol.
good luck.
