I think that prosperity ministers are mostly Pentecostal (someone correct me if I am wrong?) They believe that you can be prosperous in every area of your life by becoming born again and following the teachings of the bible.The bible really does say in one of the books Malichi I think that if you give 10% tithing God will multiply anything 10 fold.So in other words I give a guy down on skid row a new pair of boots that cost me 50 dollars at Wal Mart in orange county.That was a good deed and I will get back 500 dollars either in good health,favor or finance at some point in my life.I think its kind of like good karma.Send out good get good in return.you can not do well financially I dont think if you do not have love.

Well, not that this is a place for biblical discussion, but prosperity preachers are what gave christianity a HUGE BLACK EYE in the 80's...

Jesus talked more about money than he did hell, and none of it had to do with "getting to be prosperous." If I wasn't afraid of being banned, I'd really let loose.
LA could use you reverend.If your a man of God then your welcome to come out here and try and save some souls.I got to warn you though this state is full of bible bashing,immoral lifestyle living,aids infested,law hating varments.I am suprised God has not hit San Francisco with a meteor just like he fried Sodom.Now LA is a big mix of people lots of poor rich and in between.The bible predicts judgement for those who do not turn from their ways and we have a whole lot of fault lines under our city.ITs my belief that God has spared us from a major quake because of the good God fearing people in Southern California.
If you don't like our state then why not leave, or if you aren't here then how about not come here? We don't need any more people like you inciting hate for no reason, for the most part people here our tolerant of other people's lifestyles and the ones who aren't either live in small towns are leave the state at some point. I just find it funny that people actually put thought into hating gays, minorities, etc when what they really should be doing is concentrating on their own life since obviously something is missing if you are this hateful of people you don't personally know who are not harming others.

This is one thing that drives me the nuttiest about these boards. LA IS tolerant! LA has a whole lot of EVERYTHING! Unlike some areas of the South, we have a whole bunch of religions! You can be any one of them or none of them at all!
I think it is hysterical that some of our current presidential candidates are getting grief over their religion. Sometimes it feels like a lot of this country is still living in the dark ages!
I am personally leaving CA once I get out of college and have to move out and yes the main reason is housing costs. It isn't going to work out being a single dude making 20k/year (or less) and paying 800-1k/month rent. I am mainly planning on moving to Texas - low real estate prices and lower taxes. Yea Texas isn't like CA but then again at least in Texas I can afford to have a decent lifestyle that I am happy with. Then again, I only go to school/work and rarely ever go out on the town so I probably won't miss CA since I haven't actually seen it lol.

What are you studying in college. 20k a year is like minimum wage. Not a very high ambition for a college grad.
sorry to say I do not know confederateghost.he sounds like a good guy I believe he may be a nice person.It seems as though anyone who chooses to live by the bible these days is labeled as intollerant.If you do not accept the popular cultural views than you are the one there is something wrong with.I am here to say thats not true.Ministers in the 80's were not prosperity teachers.That was jim baker and jimmy swaggert.Jimmy swaggert and jim baker are both good men who were tripped up by the persuit of money.That happens to alot of people in life just like people who stumble with drugs,sex,alcoholism,etc.I have been told that secularism is common in the state of California.I do not think that holds well for the future of the area when we forget God he will forget about his divine protection of America.I am not sure if we will accept the offer of Los Angeles or Florida.LA is a very catholic city because of the huge number of mexican families. My point is, you should be tolerant of ALL people, isnt this part of what you preach? Where did you study theology? Im sure you will offer your hand and heart to all who reach out to you for help - be they hispanic, jewish, black, gay, lesbian, buddist or other. Am I right?
