When these guys get shot up in the streets, their gang wants payback on *anyone* from the opposing gang. It doesn't necessarily have to be the shooter that they look for. Caning in the California Prison System would only turn into a cycle of conflict/payback between the gangbangers and the C.O.s

I'm guessing that being a Corrections Officer is dangerous enough as it is.

It seems to me that the blacks and Latinos are the one's who control the white people in California.
Whites are controlled where they can and cannot go because of fear of the blacks and lations.
A black person can walk down my street and not a mean word will be said to him. Let me walk down MLK Blvd in anytown, USA and see what is said or done to me.

I am the guy who brought up the ridiculous idea of caning. I still stand by what I said. It works in other countries and it will work here.
If you know what the consequences of your lawless actions will be, you will think twice before committing an act of crime/violence.

These people can be tamed. If they act like animals, treat them like animals.
If someone comes after me, they should be prepared to deal with what awaits them.

Our penal system only makes criminals smarter and stronger.
The death penalty is useless because you know nothing after death - at least you are free from prison.

A person, regardless of how tough he may be will always remember being caned and if a man is so stupid to try to retaliate against the system/person who canned him, he should be canned again with twice the amount of lashes - and it should be done in public where he would also suffer the humiliation of corporal punishment in front of his peers.
If all else fails, execute him.

To me, it sounds like you are so passive and afraid to stand up what's right that you are willing to let the gangbangers walk all over you.

You've misunderstood me. I am no badass. Not at all.
In fact, I am soft spoken and polite.
I am only saying that I am armed, I will protect myself and I don't miss.
Florida is by not means a safe haven from criminals.

No, I have not worked in the California Corrections System.
However, I have worked as a Jailer, a Police Officer, Bondsman, Bounty Hunter and Legal Investigator in the state of Alabama.

I was in and around San Diego at that time, and don't recall any racial gangbanging or hate crimes in Southeast San Diego, or the surrounding areas (Encanto, Skyline, Paradise Hills, etc).

There were gangs, obviously, but I never saw anything racial going on.
If it *was* going on, it obviously didn't reach the ugliness (and frequency) of Los Angeles' incidents.
