Then hit the distribution centers down in SCA. If worse comes to worse send em to Porterville to work in the Wal-Mart distribution center there. I'm sure your family make great forklift drivers.

There's that huge cluster of distribution centers north of LA just before you get to Bakersfield. I believe the area is called "Tejon Ranch" or something similar. There are plans to build a large outlet mall there too, last I heard.

The distribution centers there that I know of are for Famous Footwear and IKEA. I always catch it on my way from LA to the Bay Area. You could live in Bakersfield and visit LA on the weekends, as many people do. It saves you some money, but it is Bakersfield..., not LA.

They want to do these types of jobs in sunny Southern CA.

What I tried to tell them was in blue collar white/black dominated York PA, they could make $35K doing these jobs and if they had good credit they could buy a nice home with that type of salary. But in LA, these type of jobs are not done generally by American Born folks and while they may get lucky and find a job like this in LA, they will not fit in with their cowokers because they don't speak Spanish. And while they may make a few thousand more they won't be living in a nice town in a single family home like they did in York PA, in Santa Monica on a Bread Delivery Man's wages. They don't believe me.

If these are the jobs then you nuts, I see white people in these positions just not much. The thing is, most of the whites in LA aren't like the whites say in the midwest or where you're from, they see some of these positions as beneath them here. Back home, that's a respectable job. White's here are a little different on that account.

Service oriented jobs dominate greater Los Angeles, as opposed to manufacturing jobs, which are more easily found in PA. Even if they wanted to apply for the jobs you've listed, they'd have a lot more competition.

I can't imagine a barber staying in business here--or anywhere--who doesn't have some level of skill. One can't just cut hair without any training. One must also be good with people, presentable and very accomodating. Grocery store cashier? Those jobs will disappear within 5-8 years, everywhere.

Yes, a barber is a skilled job but I used it as an example of a lower middle class job that you would see very few white people doing in LA. The Barber Shops and grocery stores in PA are full of American born folks, but in LA it is mostly immigrants. In fact it seems like 90% of the service workers making under $10 an hour in Southern CA are immigrants. That is what I was trying to explain to my relatives from York PA but they would not accept.

So the point is that the east coast is dominated with alot of people of european and african decent and the west coast is dominated with people from asian and central/south american decent.
