Hi guys. I am moving to the LA area from Atlanta in the next few months. I need help in choosing an area to focus my apartment search. I will be working in Hawthorne, CA, but I don't necessarily have to live there. I would like a newer (or at least a nice) apartment, but I also don't want an outrageous commute. My max budget is $2500 and 1-2 bedrooms would be nice (I don't think I could live in a studio!). Lastly, I also have a small dog (about 10lbs), so I would need a dog-friendly area. In what areas should I be looking? Any place I should avoid? Finding an apartment in Atlanta was so easy in comparison to finding one in LA! lol Thanks in advance for your help!

for that much you could rent a house with a backyard.

for 2.5 a month you can really live anywhere in LA. Manhattan Beach would be your best bet if you're working in Hawthorne. Or you could rent a house in a good neighborhood in Hawthorne or Torrance.

i like the site hotpads.com. I typed in hawthorne and 2500 as your max and there are loads of places to choose from.

Hmm.. Well I'll look into renting a house. I hadn't really thought about that option. I'll also look on that website you posted. Thanks for your help!

El Segundo, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach are all nice areas and should be considered.
