Well in LA, it depends on if you beach weather(50-70 in winter and 70-90 in summer) or valley weather (30-60 in winter with occasional snow and 80-110 in summer).

This is in El Segundo which is a beach community near LAX airport. They have their own school district and it's great and very safe/family friendly.

OAK PARK VS. VALENCIA/STEVENSON RANCH
husband getting transferred to LA w/ offices all over LA/OC that he will travel to: Bev Hills, Pasadena, Palos verdes, hollywood, culver city - so he will be driving no matter...
looking at: Oak Park (above Agoura Hills) and Valencia/Stevenson Ranch
we have 3 elementary school aged children - both locations have great public schools...
any feedback on the "vibe" in each area - we are looking for "family oriented" and NOT "keep
up with the Jones' attitude"
** looks like you get more for your $$ in Valencia for housing

yep your husband will be driving everywhere all day in horrible traffic, most likely.

both are suburban LA and safe and affordable, I think Oak Park is a little more high end and expensive, it's also prettier and closer to the beach. And whiter. Valencia might be a pretty grim place to raise kids, I know people from there who were bored out of their mind and find mischief as teens
