Beautiful for the most part, clear unless it rains, cool.

It's California.

Seems like it's not even cold this December. I suspect global warming.

It is interesting that this thread has been revived. Some months ago, I was at a YMCA near my area and I was talking to a lady and she told me that she thought we would have a warm December. Well, it looks like her prediction has come true. A forecast of 83 degrees expected tomorrow followed by a high of 79 on Monday before we start cooling down again. Who says that the weather in LA never changes? It does change, especially when you consider that nothing is automatically guaranteed when it comes to the weather. What I mean is that LA isn't like NY where you can expect it to be cold this time of year and it will never change to warm weather in a few days only to cool off again. In LA, you can have weather in the 60s and 70s in December or it can rise up to over 80. You just never know. And another thing is that the difference between the high and low temperatures in southern CA is significant. It is typical to see a difference of up to over 25 degrees, sometimes more than that.

No, we get many warm spells this time of year. I remember several 75-80 degree Christmas days over the years.

And it's been cold this month, too, some minimums in the 30s in the valleys and 20s in Palmdale and Lancaster.

Right. Periodic warm weather is typical for December and every winter it gets into the 80's several times. When one considers that the average December maximums in southern California are in the upper 60's to low 70's than having days near 80 isn't much above the normal temp anyway. Back East they are bracing themselves for a huge snowstorm and temps well below freezing but that isn't all that unusual either since their winters are generally cold and snowy.
