hi all:
i'm not in LA, yet. i plan to move there soon. this summer actually. i only have 4k saved up. my main concern is money but i won't be concerned anymore once i get a job there. my question really is, i've browsed jobs on sites such as craigslist and careerbuilders etc and it seems like there ARE jobs in LA. i even applied to a good amount and have gotten responses back for interviews. unfortunately, i couldn't make it since i'm not local. i feel that if i actually get my butt out there, i would be able to land something because then i can finally meet these people in person. i just need encouragement from others who have similar experiences. who have moved out there recently and HAVE landed a job almost immediately? has it happened to anyone? i have a bachelors degree also and i believe my resume is pretty decent in admin/office/blogging/writing/fashion field.
i'm from new york. i work and live in manhattan (in the heart of the city) i've visited LA and to me it's a ghost-town compared to nyc i'm going there for acting/modeling as i'm doing that now on the side in new york (with just one agency) but i feel new york can't use my look so it's not working out as i want but LA seems more welcoming in regards to my look (i have 10+ agencies interested in meeting me) i know it's a possibility that it will be the same in LA but with more than 10 interests, i think i would regret it if i don't try LA out, no? what do you think? i can always come back to ny after i get more work under my belt in this industry. i love it here. but LA is so laid back, it seems i can probably handle it ;p
would someone who is part of this industry share their experiences, advice, thoughts or tips. if you're not part of it, i doubt you'd be able to sway my thoughts.
thanks!

It must be hard to leave New York. I would love to be there right now. Are you able to save up more money? 4 grand would be really tight, but good luck!

Well if it helps, I moved to LA and had a job within 4 days. But I think I got extremely lucky. I'd love to take that leap in NYC.

Most job postings are bullstuff, and are there only to satisfy EOE requirements. The new employee for any given job is usually known before the available position is advertised.
