I'll be relocating for a job in downtown LA. Where would you recommend for a single woman to stay? I'm looking for professionally managed apartment -- either a studio or a one-bed. I'm looking at Rowland heights as well, but will it take more than 1hr to drive to downtown during rush hour?

TIA!!

South Pasadena is a great, safe neighborhood and close to DT.

Do not live in Rowland Heights if you need to commute to DTLA during rush hour. It isn't worth your sanity.

Alhambra and Monterey Park are family friendly and fairly safe areas, despite proximity to Downtown. Public Transportation and/or walkability can be hit or miss.. it may depend on the specific area.
