Mayor Garcetti Asks Top City Officials To Reapply For Their Jobs: LAist

This is pretty interesting . He wants them to prove that they want L.A to be a cutting edge city. I wonder how many will actually be hired back.

Each department head has been asked to "submit a 'memo' describing how they would 'jumpstart the economy,' make the city 'more sustainable,' make use of technology and 'create a culture of customer service,'"

I think this is great of some changes are actually implemented. In my experience I have found the customer service from the city to be very poor from most departments. To have someone that actually is customer service oriented seems to be more the exception rather than the rule. They need to remember the tax payers are paying for them. Also better use of technology would be great. Garcettis district had an app for city problems, but unfortunately it never got implemented by the other districts.

All government jobs should go through this. Too much bloat and complacency in all levels of govenment. If workers cannot or do not perform, why should they hold the position?

I voted for him, and every article so far I have read about his very young term has made me glad I decided to do so.

Yeah he seems to be a lot better . He seems to be a lot more sincere than Villaraigosa.

I'll stay SUBSTANCE over 'style' anyday.

I agree, but I do think he has quite a bit of style.

Yeah he does true. But I like that his goal isn't to be in the picture taking business.

“I’m in the picture taking business,” Villaraigosa said on NBC. “I’ve never said no to anyone that wants to take a picture…I was on vacation. I deserve a vacation from time to time.”

exactly, just in a different way. Im really liking this guy so far even if its a bit premature. I voted for him over Gruel but at the time he seemed barely distinguishable, maybe a bit different from the typical. So far he seems like he desires to improve the city which is a great start

btw I enjoyed reading his reddit session, even if a good amount of it were just ideas or intentions
