My husband recently accepted a position in Valencia, CA and we would like to know where would be the best place to move to that has good schools and affordable housing. We are really interested in tight knit communities that are family oriented and safe. Our housing budget is under $2200 and my children are in elementary school. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Santa Clarita--specifically Valencia

Family-oriented, good schools, and lots of local events. Massive turnout whenever it has a concert in the park (it's free).

$2200 should be enough to rent something in Valencia.

Yep, Valencia itself is nice. Only drawback is that it is far from some parts of the LA Metro area.

Yeah, stay in Valencia or Santa Clarita. It's relatively inexpensive there, many parts are newer and less run down, and you won't deal with much traffic, at least not the stereotypical L.A. traffic.

No, unless you mean avoiding areas that are boring.

Haha Majoun. Yeah, Valencia doesn't really have bad parts of town AFAIK.

If you were trying to avoid the boring parts, that'd be most of it. Valencia is not really anything like the typical L.A. stereotype. It's solid suburbia.

I can handle solid suburbia and will take the boring if it comes with a safe environment and friendly people. =)
Thanks for the responses!
