Default Summer Job in USA

Hi,

Me and my friend are going to USA during Summer 2008. So, we are looking for Summer jobs in the USA. We are students at University so we will be staying in the USA from June to October. We will have the J1 visa and all the necessary papers to get a job. We are from Slovakia.

Any help to get a job will be appreciated. Links? Emails?

What kind of job are you looking for? McDonald's? An intership at an advertising agency? Narrow down what you are looking for and we can guide you.

Default job in USA

we are looking for a job in restaurant but not in Mcdonald please, if it is possible. Yes, it is Internship program, we are travelling there through agency. We chose a self-arranged program it means that we find job by ourselves. That's why we are seeking for some information and help here. We want to work at restaurant as I said before or hotel. We have good English we've been in America twice, we wanna try different place of work now. Thank you for any help you can give us. Lucia and Diana

If you're students, I'd definitely try to apply for a paid internship at some successful company and get experience on the field. Try getting an agency that helps students... it's your best bet. Good luck!

could you read down some names of finance & business companies, which you would recommend. I am looking now for one (I am studying Business Administration), but First I am thinking if it is not to fast (I sent plenty of mails I got less answers I excepted) and second: Do you know, how do employers usually deal with foreign students?!? Do they hire them?

Best Greetings from Austria!

Darek (but I am form Poland)

I spent last summer in usa working. i saw plenty of things and i dont know where to start first of all... it might be a problem to get a job before having a social security card. You'll get a card in 2-4 weeks. so you just have to wait.
It depends which part of usa you decide to go but if you choose one of the citys where are lots of tourists it is easy to get a job. I remeber once a guy entered a restaurant which was hiring and he got the job immediately If you have good english skills and you have a nice appearance restaurants will definately hire you

i also wrote some thoughts right after my trip. to my website: http://users.tkk.fi/~jelehto2/englis...r_trainee.html

and if you have any questions i'll try to answer them
good luck!
