If your trash truck comes friday, they should be able to put it out whenever is convenient on thursday.

I'm sorry that this upsets you.

Try not worrying about it.

What color is your trash can? Ours is green. We've heard green is good for the environment. The street is part of the environment. Save the planet. Put it out Thursday.

Option 1: Don't worry about it, it's one day a week.

Option 2: Move into apartment complexes. They typically have garbage dumpsters that are only moved when they are being emptied. Therefore, you won't see it on the street.

Option 3: Move to a neighborhood where you can't see your neighbors garbage cans, Malibu, Palisades, Calabassas, etc. Good luck.

I can understand your frustration. It's ignorant people like that who blight the communities of LA.

Well, there's always the hand sticky note on their trashcan or door letting them know (hence the ignorant comment) and when all else fails, there's a eform on the LADWP website to have them send a letter to the resident. It is by the way illegal to put a trashcan out early or leave it out late after pickup. So many laws on the books to protect neighborhoods, but the matter of enforcement has always been LA's big city problem.

I couldn't even get them to list the correct Trash day for my address online. It's said Tuesday for over 3 1/2 years although it's Friday..and has been Friday for the whole 3 1/2 years.

I spoke to many people that said they would have it changed and they never did.

If they can't even show the correct Trash Day...I'd be surprised if they really are able to enforce anything. It just makes you wonder..

I see you live in PoHo.

Do you make sure to take a morning brake from work on trash day to come bring your cans up out of the street?

Our neighborhood's "implied rule" is that the trash cans can't go out until the night before the pick up day, and if they aren't in the night of the pick up, a neighbor will ring the offender's doorbell to let them know (or put their trashcans by their bushes so the rest of us don't have to look at them).

You may have to join forces with your neighbors.

Wow... what if a neighbor didn't cut his lawn or had a janky car? Would you guys give him a piece of your mind too?

A couple of neighbors had health problems and others offered to cut their lawns for them. Years ago, our then-teenage son took our elderly neighbor's trash cans in every week. No janky cars yet.
