There are school buses...but the discussion about schools is a whole other can of worms.

I agree with you, Elhelmete. I will look out for other postings here about the school. Thanks for the answers!

Since your kids are young and you are new to the area and without a car, I'd look for an apartment in Woodland Hills. You can always try to get a six month lease and, that way, you can continue to look around for something better after you move here.

A car is a an expense , a tool, use it as a tool to save some money by driving to the 99cent store. Buy a pickup to save on furniture delivery. Drive around pickup furniture from people who are moving having a yard sale. So how much would it cost to have your stuff moved to CA?

If the computer chair is expensive, ship it. Having to buy one upon arrival would be a nuisance. Sell the other items.

you are making quite a move you people are really going to need an A/C for summer, and half of spring and fall (its hot, hot season goes from late april to early november, where average temps go above 80 degrees, winter is fine temps in the 70s so it will take some time to adjust) but mostly enjoy the weather and enjoy LA.

Winter is not in the 70sF-it's 60sF with an occasional warm front.

You have a bigger problem in that most families have TWO cars out in LA. If you are commuting to work, your wife and kids need to get around and would potentially need a car. I guess you could get a bike that you can transport on the public bus (to LA's credit all public buses have bike carriers). That's the only thing I can think of if you want to just have 1 car.

Fedex Ground is probably the cheapest option to ship stuff. But seriously $1200 worth of items you are better off selling and rebuying here.
Agree with this. You would be pressed to find a good 2BR apt. in T.O. for 1500$. The rental market around here seems to be saturated. But T.O. would definitely meet the good school requirement.

Sure, let me look at Thousand Oaks location. I was able to get a quote from 'Avondale @ Warner Center' for a suite room, but that itself is $1200+
