Quite interesting to see the difference between LA in the late 1800s, early 1900's. Most of them were unpaved dirt roads. Just look at Sunset and Wilshire Boulevards back then.

That was true for most US cities in those days. Only in NYC and a few others were roads widely paved back then. It was broader adoption of automobiles that led to vast expansion of paving.

That shot of Wilshire Blvd circa 1910 reminds me of driving in Morocco near Marrakech.

LA had a Wild West town type of look back in the 1800's. I wished they preserved some of that archetecture.

That picture of the horse and wagon on the old pch road is something that can only be in california.
