I moved to LA a couple weeks ago from FL. I went to the DMV last week to get CA plates and drivers license. I was given a temporary operating permit to display until I got my smog test and vehicle verification. The temp tag expired on 1/31. I finally got my plate a few days ago and put on. I come to my car this morning and find a ticket for $25 for no license on front bumper. Which was issued the same day my temp operating permit expired which defeats the purpose of a temp operating permit. I have been to the DMV twice and they didn't say anything about a front tag. Additionally, They only gave me ONE license plate. Being from FL we only need one. Were they supposed to give me two? Do I have to pay extra for a second? I'm getting so stressed about CAs laws. I got a $70 parking ticket the other day and now I'm wondering if there any other little laws I need to know about. Any advise would help. Thanks!

We have two licence plates on our vehicles.
Somehow only one was put into the package when shipped to dmv.
Contact them and explain you only received one.
They will probably charge you for a duplicate plate, because you can't prove that you only received one.
Bob.

CAL GUY is right about the plates. Not sure why you only got one as the front plate is required by law. You might go to court and explain that you didn't know and only received one plate. Parking laws are very strictly enforced and the tickets are expensive. Read the signs and make sure you follow the rules. Pay the ticket you received by the due date - or it will just get worse. Oh, jaywalking tickets are not uncommon - use the crosswalk. And don't talk or text while driving (talking OK with hands free). Don't drive wearing earbuds in both ears as this is also illegal.

This is going to sound stupid and don't take offense, it has happened. Did you, by chance, put both plates on the back? They are not very thick and when you pull them from the envelope, they can feel like just one. Like two crisp dollar bills.

I've had them stick together as one plate upon removing them from the packaging.

All of these are common things people get tickets for. Also, wear your seatbelts. They'll ticket for that too.

You were right! They were stuck together! Omg I feel so stupid now lol. Thank you so much!!! So happy I don't have to pay for a duplicate. I'm just going to pay the ticket because I don't want to have to deal with going to court, it was only $25. Thanks again!!

They're supposed to put a piece of oil or wax paper between the plates, but...
