Hi,

We have moved to Torrance a year back and now planning to settle here. We have two kids who will be starting elementary after couple of years. We are planning to buy a house and have seen couple of properties in both Torrance and Redondo Beach. Recently we found few properties around Galleria mall on Mansel ave/grevillea ave and Kingsdale ave(close to el nido park).
I would like to know how is the area and the crime rate?
As Kingsdale is next to the park, is it secured at night time ? I found Kingsdale little secluded area, is it safe for a walk and for kids?

Thanks in advance

That pocket is the lowest priced area of Redondo. My friends live just on the other side of the train tracks and love the area. I am considering buying in the area which you are looking at. It is about as safe as any other part of North Redondo and Torrance. My only issue is the train.

Personally, I would not buy in the area that surrounds the Galleria Mall. There have been crime problems over the years.

Thanks for replies. I heard train frequency is low, 2-3 times in a week so it's not that bad at all for us atleast.
As the area falls in Torrance city but it has Redondo Beach post office so what does that means? Which school district Torrance or Redondo our kids can go?

I know a few people who live in the pricier part of Redondo and they will ALWAYS make that distinction. "I live in Redondo Beach, NOT the north Redondo Beach!" You'd expect it to be horrible in that part, but I think it's decent and getting better. If I were buying a house in the area, I'd look at that area as a good investment. IT may not be up, but it is up and coming.
