Aussie seeking TV and Film Work info?! NOT an actor! (Los Angeles: for sale, apartments)

Hey there,

I currently work in Post Production on a Sydney TV drama show but am thinking of relocating to the US/Canada for work opportunities in Tv/Film/Post and Production mid next year.... Not exactly great timing with the current strike but I still have work here for about 6 months.

Just wondering if any other Aussie's have made the trek and if they had any helpful hints? Or if anyone knows of anyone needing a hard working Aussie who can do most things!? I'm just starting my research into this idea so any website contact info etc would be great!

The one thing in my favour is I have American Citizenship too which after I used up my Working Holiday Maker visa in the UK got me sponsored by a UK TV Production company wanting to open offices in the US... but 911 happened and I ended up moving back to Oz after four years.

Anhow, if you can shed some light that would be great!

I am an American that wanted to get into the industry years ago. There are plenty of production houses here that hire you on the spot. Right now,As you know film and oduction studios are shut down due to the Writers Guild of America Strike. The strike started a month ago. There are production companies that are non-union you may want to look in to at this time they the ones that produces reality shows; the pay will be less. Another option is working for commercial productions companies and local television stations.
