Yeah 2 is quite the anomaly in LA. Never seen traffic on it.

That's shocking! Especially with how bad the 210/134 downtown pasadena connector gets, you'd think this would be a work around. I'd only need to be on the 5 for a mile or two and it would be going north in the morning to los feliz and then south back to the 2 in the afternoon. This could be doable. Thanks. I'd never considered that area within reach.

My other thought would be living somewhere near the orange line and taking it to the red line to Hollywood/Highland... but I don't know if I'm really that kind of commuter. I've met a lot of LA people who, like me, love the thought of living and working near transit, but would still take the car unless traffic absolutely necessitated the train...

Honestly, traffic into Hollywood, especially near Hwood/Highland, is bad almost 24/7/365 because it's densely populated, has a lot of business, and is a tourist destination. That ensures traffic all the time. If you can adapt to taking the Red Line from NoHo that's your best bet. Or anywhere near there. Just drive to the station, park your car, and don't worry about traffic into Hollywood. Anything with a short drive of the Red Line is a good idea. NoHo itself, Studio City, Toluca Lake, and even parts of Burbank.

My route into DTLA while I'm at my mom's place is basically straight out of the SNL episode on the Californians.

210 E (going due south) to 134 W to 2 South to 5 S to 110 S. Five freeways in 15 miles!
