Have ridden to Alaska in the past, from Santa Monica. Doable in 3-4 days in summer. In a car, if the intent is just to "get there", it's not a huge trip, 3k miles. I would highly suggest taking your time - beautiful country.

I rode a Yamaha 500 from Fontana to Fairbanks and back once. The trip covers 3500 miles and took three weeks, but that included 2-3 day layovers in Seattle, coming and going.

I was taking my time, especially once I got to Alaska. Road and weather conditions limited my Al-Can riding to 250-300 miles a day.

The Alaska Tourism Dept used to publish a book every year called "The Milepost". It was an illustrated guide to the Alaska- Canada Highway, including a mile-by-mile description of the route. Great planning guide for a trip. I don't know if they still publish it, but if they do, you'd find it very useful.
