It seems Pick-a-Part is too far from Los Angeles, so what are some other options, besides Kars for Kids?

Kcrw, the local NPR affiliate, will take it off your hands. I hear the ads on the air all the time.

You can also donate cars to the public television stations. I've done that.

Also, if you list care in the "free" section of Craigslist and specify that they must tow away, that works, too. but you need to be careful that you've filled out the title transfer and forms correctly when you do that.

Depending on the type of car you have, you can also make a deal with a mechanic to part it out. Some cars are worth more parted out, and the mechanic's shop will usually get rid of the remaining bits for you, as they make money off the scrap metal.

Leave the keys in the ignition and advertise on Craig's list for a car thief with good mechanical abilities. Tell 'em where it is.

Don't forget to sign the pink slip and leave it on the driver's seat.

Father Joe is located in San Diego. I don't know how far they go to pick up cars, but here's the contact info: https://my.neighbor.org/pages/retail/auto-donation

In my old neighborhood all you'd have to do is leave the keys in the ignition and some mechanically smart car thief would figure out how to drive it off.

Border between Northridge and Van Nuys.

I'm donating it to a charity and taking a tax write-off.
