I was in the Playa Vista area and noticed so much construction there as it seems they are developing some kind of shopping center and more aparments. I was there with my gf since we were looking at some apartments (Crescent Park at Playa Vista) and while I was waiting for the tour of the apartments some current tenant told us that even though it looks nice that there are a lot of burglaries in the area. This person even told me that a lot of Section 8 people live in many of the apartments in the area. Does anyone know if this is true. I mean rents there are pretty expensive and I do not want to worry about such things if I am going to pay so much. Any advice on the area? Thanks

i'm pretty sure some of the rental buildings have a designated number of low income units. keep in mind that most of the buildings are condos, not apartments, so i don't think section 8 is common. as for burglaries, they can happen anywhere. keep your stuff locked up and you should be fine.

Yes there is section 8 people living there, but there is no evidence pointing to them or their friends contributing to the crime in the area. The people can very well come from down the street.

Sounds like you just ran into a disgruntled tenant. The area isn't too unsafe. It's a brand new area and pretty nice. You are likely to have more issues with noise from the college kids for LMU. I've heard that complaint from some people who live in the rentals there and down Lincoln. I don't think it's a bad area at all.
