Default Creative Artists in LA

I am curious about the people that are thinking of moving to LA to pursue acting, film, art, music...etc.. Have you exhausted the artistic possibilities in your hometown or nearby area and that is why you view LA as your only option? Are you THAT good at your craft? Do you have a huge portfolio of work that you have done to show to agents in LA? Is your work available on the internet for the world to see and form an opinion ? Will the weather make you better at your craft "sarcasm" ..

I am a musician that has not nearly exhausted any of the local scene. While I love to visit California and LA, the city is just too expensive for me to have the peace of mind that I need to be creative and become the level of musician that I am striving for. I call myself - Realistic -

Then stay where you are if you can make a living there. It also pays to have family or contacts out here so you don't come out here "cold".

I think a lot depends on what you intend to do with your life. If you are a musician with a band, you might do better living somewhere else. If you play the trumpet or the violin or are a concert pianist, you might find more studio work in LA.

I lived near a guy who was an "ethnic" musician and dancer. He also had a particular "ethnic" look that was wanted by the studios from time to time. He was constantly working.

So, you take your chances... You might be hot, or not.
