Thinking about moving to LA from New England. I have $45,000 cash in savings and a masters degree in Adult Education.

Is $45,000 enough to move to LA with no job secured, find a job, and then buy a condo within a 1 year time perioid? Or would PHX/Bakersfield/Fresno be a better option?

Single guy no wife or kids...

Yes, but buying might be tough depending on how fast you land a job. Your money will go much further in the other locations you mentioned but LA is pricey for a reason.

I can make it work but i can't promise you a great condo. I'll await the funds in my bank and then we'll go condo hunting.

Yea, and if this doesn't work for you you can send me the money and I will find a nice place and send you pictures of what I bought me, I mean you. LOL

Have you considered Oxnard or Ventura CA?

Also what are you looking to put down on a place? You could get a new condo in Oxnard at the Riverpark Development for under $300,000. They also have low income section of the development. Something to look into anyway.

I don't know about finding a condo. You'll need some proof of income for that.

45k is a good stash to move just about anywhere outside of Monaco.

If I was going to move to LA and didn't know anyone I'd find someone renting a room/roomates and then start looking for a job. Then once I got a job I'd move close to where the job is.

Fresno looks nothing like that blossom trail, especially with the drought the entire state is in. Brown grass and dirt is more common than blossom orchards.
