  • Social Security Card
  • copy of 1040
  • Three most consecutive paystubs
  • last 3 consecutive bank statements from all checking and savings account; all pages

Not at all. All of those are required to rent any apartment except maybe the social security card. NMS is a real company that does a fair enough job, so you won't get scammed, but you'll probably pay more rent than you should.

I've had the same job for 10+ years and have rental history in SoCal the same amount of time. My current LL didn't ask for that much info. Social security card is odd but they obviously need your SS# to run a credit check. The bank statements also seem redundant if you are providing pay stubs. Usually they are only concerned with establishing that your rent is no more than a certain percentage of income. I would expect them to give more scrutiny to those with a limited rental history and/or those having trouble establishing a steady source of income.
