Metrolink commuter trains serve San Clemente North platform. The beach is acceable right there and a walk to the pier. On weekends Metrolink serves San Clemente Pier station. Also, some Amtrak trains also serve San Clemente Pier station during the summer. The station is right on the beach and the village is accessible from their.

As others have already shared, while you won't get to everything on Metro efficiently, there is a lot that visitors can get to using Metro and Metrolink.

Just looked at the carrentals app and right now you can easily get a car for a week for less than $150 total ( prob doesn't include the insurance which I haven't bought )
I think even during very week time under $300 should be no prob .

My rate on car now is like $11 day plus tax and that's on a midsize car.

It's worth it to shop around.
