I've been commuting from Long Beach to Culver City. I may have an option to commute to Orange in Orange County instead. I'm wondering, how would the commute from Long Beach to Orange be daily? How would it compare to my current commute? Thanks!

Your life would improve, your health would improve, your spirit would improve. Long Beach to Culver City?? That is insanity. Long Beach to Orange? That is awesome.

I'm assuming you are somewhere near the 405 and not having to go through the city that much. You'd get on the 405 heading south with NO traffic until that 605-merge. Then it would slow a little until you could zip off on the 22. The 22 eastbound in the morning is nothing. You'd fly to Orange. Sounds like a nice little commute!

Your current commute sucks, the orange commute, not so sucky. You'll hit some congestion on the interchange with people getting over to the 405 and just a few people trying to get on the 22. The trip back, you'll hit a parking lot for a few minutes, but will clear up after the 605 interchange.

Only trouble spots of the LB to Orange commute are the 405 and 22 joint portion and a few miles before the 22 approaches the 5.. but it's a cakewalk compared to the commute to Culver City like many others have mentioned.

Thanks all - I've worried most about the 405-22 connector but it sounds like it won't be anything compared to the current commute.

I live in LB and have done the commute up the 405 to Culver City plenty of times.

It sucks, big time.

You have leave at the crack of dawn, I mean early, to make it half way normal, and even then you're still gonna hit some slowing.

The commute from LB to Orange is pretty cake, like others have said, the east bound 22 is pretty light in the mornings.
