Walmart acussed me of grand theft in the 3rd degree. My concern is collecting unemployment. I am not worried about being convicted because I am innocent. Walmart claims I did fraudulent returns yet they have no video..of me removing any money from my register. The service desk has 6 cameras that run 24hrs. Can I be denied unemployment if Walmart can not show me on video taking the money?

Did they press criminal charges? If they didn't they may have a problem with the accusations standing up.

First of all, what is the nexus of your problem to El A? You worked at the Baldwin Hills store, the only one in El A? If no nexus, take it to the employment board.

Being accused is different from being convicted. You will never work at Walmart again regardless of what your story is. They can deny unemployment compensation as they fired you with cause. You need to apply to find out what they tell the State. A Fortune 500 company like Walmart would not risk being sued for libel or defamation so they are not likely to publish it online or in the newspaper that they believe you stole from them. Nothing crazy like that. But they aren't likely to give you a good reference and probably will just decline giving you a reference other than duration of employment, etc. Its also likely if you were operating a cash register you were bonded, basically they were insured if you stole. I'm not sure how that works but if they filed a claim, its on your record just like a driving record. Good luck getting another retail gig where you are trusted with money. I would never hire such a person for anything as ethics comes into question whether they operate a register or not. You have some serious things to ponder.
