I think you mean inglewood , there seem to be some inprovements and development is happening , look up hollywood park development , but it's definately not a gentrified/ upscale area if thats what you are looking for.

The " cheap " places everywhere are usually " cheap" for a reason .

Palms area is much different from inglewood and is a much more desirable area .

Are you looking at renting or buying ?

The elephant in the room is we need to know your ethnicity. This was answered already in another Inglewood thread but if you are Caucasian you would be a pioneer if you moved there. Palms is probably better for you.

Assuming the Brazil in your name is a clue. There are Brazilian clubs and ethnic shops in the Palms/Culver City area. But then Inglewood is not that far away and in general is less expensive.

I don't think race is that big of a problem, given that if a thief wanna rob your place, they're most likely not going check your ethnicity first.

It all depends on which part of Inglewood you are planning to stay in.
IMO, the north west part of town is pretty decent for family or single male.
For single female, I would suggest those apartments near Mar Vista and Palms, along 405.
It might cost a bit more for a smaller place, but safety is my priority.

If you are single and don't mind a roommate and without a pet, there's plenty of shared unit for $1100-1200
