When he writes this, I think he's using an abbreviation of the airline; it's confusing.

"Cali" just makes most people laugh.

"obamacare surcharge" is year old news and I hope this isn't going to be an annual thing to talk about on CD, every time open enrollment is upon us.

OP seems to create threads with the intent of typing a weird abbreviation for some reason so I'll probably ignore them from now on.

I report racist and homophobic posts. It's not one or the other. I report posts when they violate the rules and it also annoys me when people write stupid crap like "El A" over and over.

Yac is a senior mod, and a very nice guy, so if you have a compelling reason for a name change, I don't see why he would not help.

I heard about this happening. I know that they have been doing it in San Francisco for a long time..there is some kind of health charge , but I believe that it's for the entire city rather than benefiting employees specifically at that restaraunt.

That is fine if employers want to offer healthcare even if they are not mandated to..but I don't feel like it should be pushed on the patrons.

I could see this being the type of thing that could turn people off.

Not everyone going to nice/expensive restaraunts has a lot of money.

Another thing is the sales tax is already relatively high in L.A so this is just another tax on top of that too..

Also how does it work exactly if it's 3%? What happens if the amount 'raised' exceeds the cost of coverage?

I could see if it was optional, but then I could see the waiter getting upset if you didn't leave anything.

It will be interesting to see if this changes things at these restaraunts less people coming..but I guess since they are hot/popular places they figure people will still come

but if they are so popular and making money ..why don't they just pay their employees health care out of their profits like most businesses do?
