Just looking for some friendly advice.

My bf commutes from Torrance to Hollywood. Not a terrible commute by any means, but I remember a fellow member telling me that Crescent Heights is a better alternative to LaCienega or Fairfax or La Brea.

We live 2 blocks west of La Brea.

I haven't ever taken CH when going N-S or vice versa, and neither has he. Is it filled with lights, or stop signs? It starts just north after you go under the 10 and I figure maybe it's worth a shot?

Any locals have any information for me? Lol, we've been here about a year and love it. The commute for him is about an hour on the way home. Like I said, not terrible, but any time saved we are all for it!

It's worth a try but it hardly matters because Crescent Heights only runs from the 10 to Sunset. As a general rule Crescent Heights will hvae less traffic but also longer waits at intersections

Thanks!! Are said intersections lights or 4-ways stops?

He takes the 405 to La Cienega which always moves nicely, but once La Cienega bogs down after the 55MPH zone he gets held up. Was just wondering if it's worth a shot over Fairfax or LaBrea.

I've generally found that these alternative "minor" thoroughfares (examples include 6th Street, Crescent Heights, Hauser, Cochran in that area) don't save much time unless the major thoroughfares are really jammed up - but since they often are, it's worth taking them. Considering Crescent Heights probably takes him closer to your home than La Cienega, yes, try it out.

La Brea is faster than crescent heights 90 % of the time. Crescent heights has a lot of bottlenecks and gets extremely congested because it's such a small street.

From the 10 till Wilshire Crescent Heights has stop signs, so I wouldn't recommend taking it through that part. But from Wilshire to Sunset the intersections have stop lights and it moves quickly during anti-grid lock hours (7-9AM 4-7PM) due to the extra travel lane and restricted left turns. I'd say its defff faster than La Brea or La Cienega but probably the same as Fairfax.
