Can I assume it's a city with just a few large homes on large plots of land? |

Is Bel-Air and places like that not part of L.A. County?
I've been to hidden hills...it's just large and nice homes where pharmacists, bankers and people who make a lot of money live. Doesn't mean much...I hope no one is expect to move nearby and make a large salary. These people commute and/or work from home. Lots may be larger than homes that go for 500k, but I live in a home worth about 600k and household income is just over 100k........big difference from 235k and a 2.2 million dollar home. |

Very, very cool!
Thank you Charles for posting these two photos. Just amazing. Wow. Especially considering how very much this area has changed in all ways, including the prices. It shows too how wonderful this area once was in regards to the mixture of the very rural and the very urban (knowing that not far away from where these pictures were taken was the second largest city in the U.S.). No wonder so many rushed here over the decades. Your post too is perfectly placed just after ValleyBoy85's present stats and demographic info. Just wonderful pictures. |

Haha! This is funny. On that kind of income you can afford about a $1 million house at the most. And that's if you put down $200,000 and are willing to spend a third of that $234,000 on a place to live. That $2.2 million house will cost you between $175,000 and $200,000 per year to own and maintain. Haha! |
