Neat photos. Check out those hairstyles.

Reminds me of early episodes of Brady Bunch and later ones of Andy Griffith Show / Bewitched - (very late 1960s)

Thanks all for the photos!

There is a really cool website call California Coastal Records Project -- Aerial Photographs of the California Coastline which shows the california coastline in photos shot from a helicopter. Also buried in this website are practically the same photos taken in the early 1970s. Fascinating arrangement of now and then photos.

You will kill hours on this site.

Technology undoubtedly had something to do with it but so did/does the "fear" factor. I've wondered about that, too, since my kids were born in the 1980's and the whole climate of playing outdoors seemed to have changed since I was a kid here. Maybe it was the Adam Walsh disappearance. At any rate, playing unsupervised is not something kids seem to do anymore.

BTW, the birthday party picture is so funny, Charles. It could have been a duplicate of one of my little sister's parties during that same period.

Default Castle Peak

Here is a photo of Castle Peak taken with a long exposure at night.

Taken in 1974 while I was a student at El Camino Real.

That's about the time I first hiked to the top of it.

Neat photo. I think with the time lapse I can see the star movement.

Castle Peak was originally called El Escorpion because it looked like a scorpion's tale.

Here is a shot of it around 1948

Here's a shot of it from the top looking east

That's Topanga Plaza under construction in the background on the top right. View is looking west over Victory in 1963. The street with the pepper trees running left and right about in the middle is Canoga. Now Warner Center is where all those fields are. The biggest building was May Company anchoring the north side with the Broadway (not built yet in this photo) anchoring the eastside. "Monkey" Wards was in the middle.

The railway which goes up from the bottom and and curves to the right is now the busway.

I grew up in the top right corner of this photo, around Saticoy and Fallbrook.

This photo was taken looking north in winter 1962 from our new house in Canoga Park. In the background is snow capped Oat Mountain, 3,747 feet.

I used to watch filming of movies and TV shows from time to time. I watched filming of "Gone in 60 seconds", the big car crash scene which was filmed on 190th street in Redondo. In the 80's I saw lots of shoots for shows like TJ Hooker and Riptide. Also went to the studio and saw a daytime TV show that had a new comedian ... Andy Kaufman ... playing his bongo routine. I found out a few years ago that where I work, before I started, they used our property to film a couple of a Star Trek episodes.

Default Castle Peak 1973

Great Shots Charles.
Here is another one I took in 1973 from our house on 7000 Newgate Road, Canoga Park (West Hills).
Castle Peak is in the background.
