Default Valley Village?

What are your opinions on Valley Village? Is it a pretty safe place? Here are the apartments I'm looking at.

For a single, it's just okay. There are better areas, but it's okay. Just stay as far southwest as possible. The middle part of the valley is bad and so is North Hollywood, so to avoid those areas, the SW part is best. I would suggest Studio City if you can afford that. Or Woodland Hills, Glendale, or Burbank. Is your job in the area?

I'm not in LA yet but I'm looking at rentals in different areas that are pretty reasonably priced.

Personally, if I were a single guy, it I wouldn't feel unsafe. (I grew up in the valley so I guess I just am sort of familiar with the place.) But I wouldn't enjoy living in much of the SFV for many other reasons: traffic, unplanned, hodge podge, multi-zoned, ugly, dirty, crowded. There are some nice parts and there are some not so nice parts. None of the valley scares me. Much of the valley repels me.

I live in Valley Village, when I first moved to CA I found this place and have been here forever at this point. Here's the thing with LA, whenever an area starts to get "bad" they will create a new city of the "good" areas. So prior to moving here the area I live in used to be north hollywood. Valley Village isn't bad at all, I live on the border of Sherman Oaks and I pay a lot less than a friend who lives a couple of blocks away from me. Don't get me wrong, rent is not cheap here but you may have a better chance of finding something affordable here than in Sherman Oaks or Studio City.

Valley Villiage use to be No.Hollywood until some Real Estate person came up with that name so that they could selll houses in the area, because no one really wanted to live in No.Hollywood especially during the early 80's.... It's amazing to see what they have done with the city over the last 40 years. In some nasty areas they come in change the name up the prices, then people come here not knowing the real story, buy and then go hey there is heavy crime in my area...duh...

Before we came here we checked all parts of Los Angeles out before we decided where to live and that was 40 years ago...no internet...we had to fly out and spend some time.

Also now No.Hollywood in some areas are now called NOHO..artsy area that is commanding high rents or sales...but still the same area..but with more glitz..
