Default Is Compton Getting Safer?

Compton has intrigued me for quite some time now. You can search the net for hours and find two tiny pictures of a compton street light, but can't find anything normal size and of an actual street.

I did some "crime rate" research and found Compton at number 14, while last year it was at number 4. This information was from CQ Press. Now police officers in big cities have been known for corruption. So either CQ Press is lying or there's quite a bit of police corruption and unreported crimes going on in Compton. Another possibility is that cities such as Detroit, St. Louis, Oakland, Camden, etc. got worse and passed Compton while Compton's crime rate remained the same...? Which one do you think it is?

Compton is getting better but its still not good.

Go to LA crime blog at the Los Angeles times:

Los Angeles Times: The Homicide Blog

Timothy Crawford, 32, a black man, was shot at the intersection of McKinley Avenue and Alondra Boulevard in Compton at about 6:03 p.m. Dec. 28. Crawford and a friend were driving away from a liquor store, said Lt. Gil Carrillo of Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. Crawford was in the passenger seat. They stopped at a stop sign, about to turn. A black man or youth standing on the curb, and "for unknown reasons" fired a gun into the car. Crawford was wounded; the driver was not injured and drove him to his house, which was only a block away, and paramedics came there, and took him to a hospital, where he died shortly after, at 8:08 p.m.

Aviantay Williams, 16, a black youth, was shot at 1116 N. Santa Fe Avenue in Compton and died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22.
The killing was a drive-by shooting, one of several recently. Williams was standing in front of a house, and was shot in the abdomen. He was taken to St. Francis hospital, where he died.

Clifford Ingram, 44, a black man, was shot in his gold Oldsmobile at 924 W. 130th St. in Compton at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, and died about an hour later at St. Francis Hospital.
He was driving down the street and stopped his car for some reason. His attackers shot him through the window. He tried to drive away, made it a very short distance, then careened into a fence. Paramedics took him to the hospital. Ingram was a divorced father with a girlfriend or fiancee, on parole for a nonviolent offense. Sheriff's detectives need someone to come forward and tell them what happened so they can arrest and charge whoever killed Ingram. Sgt. Rick Biddle can be reached at (323) 890-5500.

Craig Moore, 18, a young black man, was shot through the head at 1600 W. Piru St. in Compton, and died at 3:39 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. He was walking westbound when drive-by shooters cruised past in a rust-colored car. He was rushed to Gardena Memorial hospital, where he was pronounced dead. HR is seeking more information on this homicide. Anyone with information or tips is asked to call the sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

Even if Compton's crime rate is getting low, I still would not move there or anywhere near there..

Yes, and it's very ghetto over here. I hate it. I was harrassed in this area before.

the majority of long beach are too close to compton and are bad areas. But there are good, upscale areas such as belmont shore, naples, belmont heights, park estates and others.

According the show Gangland on the History channel, walking down Piru street is a death sentence unless you are black, wearing all red, and a sworn in Blood gangster.
