Hey everyone! Quick question if anyone can help out I am going to be relocating to the Los Angeles area and will probably be living in the South El Monte/Rosemead area. I am considering accepting a job in Fountain Valley. I am an RN and work a 12 hour night shift so I would be commuting three times a week. I would start work at 7 pm and get off work in the morning at 7:30 am. Is this a doable commute? When would I need to leave to get to work on time reliably every day? It seems that it is about a 45 minute drive without traffic and from what I understand, leaving SGV and heading toward Fountain Valley in the evening actually goes against traffic. Any input would be appreciated thank you so much!

It's rush hour. So budget one and a half hours, even though its something of a reverse commute.

Move to Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa ASAP. Its a nicer area than Rosemead/South El Monte anyway.

Thanks so much for the advice! I really appreciate it I will look into that area. Something I forgot to ask initially - is public transportation an option for me? Or would it be better for me to just take my own car?

SGV to FV by public transit? Sure, if you have 4 hours to spare. The only half way decent public transit (Metrolink) is concerned with getting people from the IE/OC into LA in the morning for work.

Own car. That's a 35 mile drive.

It's 445 pm and gps states Rosemead to FV is a 1 hr, 7 min drive right now.
