Don't watch sports 2. Wear D+G, Buffalo, and Dior Homme?)

Check your creativity at the door - the film (post) production community here is constricted to rotoscoping pandas shot on 4:1:1 DV for children's shows and making HOM furniture commercials in After Effects.

Makes sense, considering 6 months out of the year are !UN SHOOTABLE! and who knows when it's going to be cloudy, raining, or snowing - not like the dependable 75 and sunny of SoCal, where all I have to worry about is having my scrim and bounce boards ready.

Quick Article Blurb:

"It is this region, characterized by slow job growth and gathering problems in the automotive industry, that has stumbled first. In a business where outright price declines are rare, the Midwest was the first region in recent years to post a drop in prices - with median single-family homes down 2 percent in the second quarter from the same period in 2005.

Is the Midwest leading a national downturn? Prices were still rising in the South, West, and Northeast, although they too may show declines when the National Association of Realtors provides third-quarter numbers this month.

"Those [Midwestern] markets are being affected more by the economy itself ... particularly job cuts," says Brian Carey, an economist at Moody's Economy.com, which tries to model where home prices will go next in US markets. The coasts, by contrast, "had the largest housing boom ever basically. We're starting to see the downside come through now."

The regional and city-by-city differences reveal how, in real estate, it really is "location, location, location" that matters.

In the Midwest, home-price patterns are all about the economy and jobs. Cities such as Detroit, Cleveland, and South Bend are struggling even though they never had a big run-up. In other regions with stronger economies, the housing shift is driven by consumers adjusting to higher interest rates and by speculators who are now backing out of the market instead of bidding prices up."

Good luck moving to greener (or wait, gray/brown/whiter) pastures in the midwest.

Make sure to keep us updated, we expect to see smiles from ear to ear!
Why would the label Buffalo ever grace the same sentence as Dior Homme and D&G?

And is cold weather even that bad? Do you stay outside all day? I moved from California to cold NYC and it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I suppose what I like to do (going from shop to shop, bar to restaurant, etc etc.) doesn't require me to linger outside all day.

I think the place has really gone down since it became, politically, a one-party region. Anywhere there is a manifestation of liberal Democrat politicians and thought, high crime invariably follows. You need a solid two-party system of government. You'll notice that just about all the worst places in the country (Detroit, Gary, Newark, East St.Louis etc) are run solely by Democrats.

It's the power of marketing.

People believe global warming exists for the same reason that they think they need to shell out 100 bucks for an Ipod shuffle, when you can get a more functional Sanso (more space, radio function, voice record, switchable 2gb storage) for 25 bucks.

If people simply did research and understood the earth has CYCLES they would realize, "Hey, wow 130 years ago, weather was a lot crazier than right now"

But people tend to believe what the box tells them.

Well Saint

NYC weather doesn't compare to MN - let's go to weather.com shall we?

Climatology Comparison for Minneapolis, MN - weather.com

Wow, ya you guys have it REAL tough. Record low of, -4 in january? Ok, that's pretty cool

Now if you look about an INCH below that on the graph you'll see MY weather for January. That's right, -41.

Factor in windchill and you have yourself a nice case of frostbite (ie: My fingers up to my wrist, it really doesn't feel well when it gets colder)

Now if you want to look at our highs, guess what - our summers are much hotter and intolerable than yours, and MORE HUMID TOO! Fancy that.

Lucky for me I don't mind heat, I'm good till about 115 - even if it's humid, as long as it's not cold (I'm extremely receptive to the cold) I'm fine, seeing as I have no allergies.

However, people who DO mind the heat have to deal with both the frigid lows and the intolerably heat stroke inducing highs.

Since you asked about the weather I won't even delve into the fact that you're living in a world class city, with the finest shopping, restaurants and employment opportunities.

But hey, if you don't believe me, maybe you could come out here and visit in a few months? Maybe plunk down a couple hundred thousand on a big ole house, and get more bang for your buck?

The clothes I suggested are but many I own, I also have Victor+Rolf, Joseph Abboud and so on and so forth, I wanted to give people a range in reference to how narrow minded the people here are.

I dont remember our record low, but in 1993 Winter was so cold that a bunch of our cars wouldnt start. There were advisories to not go outside. 9 people froze to death including a woman and her 1 year old baby whos car broke down in the country. My hand went numb after just running from my house to the car to grab my CD's.AND I WAS WEARING GLOVES! People that dont live in it year after year dont know anything about cold weather. And for the record, the East Coast dont compare to the fridgid temps in MN,WI,MI,IN,IL, and parts of Ohio. NY has their rough patches and they DO get more snow, but as far as below zero temps? Nah. Snow don't bother me as bad as the single digit and the minus zero temps.
Last year we all had to laugh, my wife came in from running some errands and she was all excited and cheerful, I asked if I could be part of this new found joy and she said, "!! It feels soooo good out there! It's really warming up!" I called the weatherline and the temperature was 15 degrees.LOL!!! We had been on a streak for about a month of minus zero temps

- 44 degrees F.

Horrible. I wasn't aware it got that cold in Minneapolis. But you're correct, the winters aren't that bad here.

And regarding the stares, I've traveled to Minneapolis for one day before and I also couldn't help but notice all the looks thrown my direction when I arrived in the airport with my Rick Owens clothing and Louis Vuitton hard-case Alzer luggage in tow. People staring, whispering and probably wondering "Who is that funny dressed guy...??!"

Honestly, I don't mean to be rude but I felt so out of place and thought that town was a plebe ridden hole and I couldn't wait to leave. The "Four Star Hotel" I stayed in was the equivalent to shoddy and vile three star hotel here in New York and I wasn't impressed one bit with the city and it's amenities.

I would never live anywhere in the U.S. other than New York or the LA area.

You can get all you need to know from some of the people on this board. Yes, I do bash L.A. and that's because it's an extremely dissapointing city. Like it or not maybe some of you should try and live in other cities. It is my general observation that the Angelenos just take things blindly in stride and bury their head in the sand. Nobody cares out here. It's the most selfish city in the world. Travel first then respond. And please don't come at me with knowledge when your screen name is that of a movie character.

The city generally lacks any true 'community' feeling. It's very transient and that contributes to the reason why nobody cares. When I was here back in the 90's it was a much different place. Yes it had it problems and was dangerous but so is every city. It was then on an upswing. Currently it is on a down swing. If you choose not to see this then your watching too much t.v. Open your eyes, read what's going on politically, demographically, crime stats, real estate booms. It all there but most people out here would rather watch Entertainment Tonight than spend 20 minutes in an intelligent conversation.

As for those mocking the OP who wrote 'get out while you can' you are all demonstrating the exact point I'm making. Why don't you think about it. Ever hear of kids and school? How about college and semesters. Employment contracts and spousal obligations. There are lots of reasons people are somewhat forced to be in a place for a certain amount of time. If you would stop living in pirate LALA land you might understand this.

Traffic is the worst in the nation. Again. People drive around with bumper stickers demorilizing our president, all the while talking on their cell phones in their SUV's on the 405. Then the media has the gall to talk about being a green city. It's a joke. It's all one big unintelligent joke out here. The only real reason to live in this city is for the entertainment business. If you are in that particular field than it's a different story. However unlike most other metropolitan areas it only has that one leg to stand on. Think about it. Sports teams are a bust out here. Nobody shows up. Go watch an Angels game in September and take note of the stands. Then go across the coast and watch the Cubs. Guarentee there are more watching the Cubs than Angels even with the Angels in first place. This is the nations second largest market and they can't hold an NFL team. Why? Because it would be a big bust. Traffic is so disgusting that people don't want to leave home to deal with it. Again contributing to the selfishness and 'I don't care" attitude that permeates the town.
