What?

I don't see anything stereotypical or rude, or judgmental about that post. I'm confused.

Guys, Black Flag came from the South Bay. That is all the culture the region will need for, oh, say the next 3000 years.

Yes, what happened to the punk scene? I guess there is still a little bit of it in San Pedro.

Thanks for the tip about the Lighthouse… will totally check it out.

How so? You've just blatantly insulted me for no apparent reason :cough: hypocrite. I'm sorry, but the South Bay isn't exciting like Los Angeles is. No offense, and I wasn't criticizing as I clearly said, but that's pretty common knowledge IMO. I clearly was only trying to help (by giving a good beach recommendation) and wished the OP the best.

I don't think the Southbay is a "cultural wasteland" though. LAX is there, Silicon Beach, El Segundo and all it's aerospace, Hermosa Beach (party central), Manhattan (fancy), Redondo (seafood), Palos Verdes is very wealthy, as is Torrance, Del Amo mall is one of the largest in the US, San Pedro has the ports, and Snoop Dogg came from Long Bei-acch LOL.

It's nothing compared to what you find in L.A., as far as diversity, food, etc. But I don't think it's a wasteland, per se, either. It's more like the fancy suburbs of other cities. Scottsdale AZ, Northbrook IL, Bloomfield MI, Edina MN, etc

I don't really listen to or follow punk music, but I've read a couple of articles about some of the most noted punk musicians from the LA scene of the 80's now living in Orange County, including the city of Orange (which looks nice and quaint in the old part).

Apparently this is quite ironic because Orange county is where the boring old people lived. Plus there were unfriendly rivalries with the bands from OC and their fans, so you risked getting beaten up if you drove to OC as an LA punk or Valley punk, and vice versa. Drama!

ah, so it has its own kind of cultural diversity - the wealthy suburban.

I'm glad you caught on to the breweries. I think you will find lots of like minded people there. Smog City Brewing brings in food trucks with pretty good food. I want to try Phantom Carriage in Carson for a sour ale.
