1. it doesn't matter much because you can't shop around for electricity.
2. all rates are listed and yes Glendale does have higher rates

City of Glendale, CA : Residential Electric Rates

3. It gets hotter in Glendale than most of the LADWP's service areas so there is probably more demand in peak months

From my past experience I would budget $60-90/month for summer and less for the rest of the year

Electric rates will be increasing for mostly everyone including the people who use less thanks to the cpuc approving the rate hikes today in san Francisco. Utility companies are greedy.

I can't imagine anyone paying $300 a month for electric in Glendale -- unless you had a HUGE house. I can't imagine what would be such a big energy drain to create a bill that high.

The most I paid in the inland empire in a 1BR apartment was around $90/month in the hottest month of summer. Usually it was in the $40-50 range in the summertime. Glendale is tiered so that the first 10kwh per day is at the lowest rate. I rarely got over about 350kwh a month even running the AC a lot when working from home. The best thing you can do to keep the bill down is, after sunset, shut off the AC and use portable fans to keep it comfortable. Sometimes it's so hot that you have to run the AC 24/7 although thankfully that doesn't happen often.
