Gosh, does this post strike a nerve. Yes, extremely frustrating. The Rams had one of the best records every year in the 1970s and every gahd dahm year they would lose to either minnesota or dallas with tarkington or staubuach. so frustrating. And I can't ever remember a Rams game on TV from the coliseum. I think it held 93000 for a while (then down to 80K I think). It held even more (like over 100K) in the 1950s I think before they put in individual seats. Prior to that (like since the Olympics in 1932) the seats were just benches like the Rose Bowl was into the 1980s if I remember correctly.

wow, great pics! i always love seeing shots of la from back in the day.
support or no support, and blackouts or otherwise, la definitely had a great pro football tradition.
if the two ny teams can build their own (joint) stadium on their own, i don't see why an la-based group can't do the same (or renovate the coliseum to modern nfl standards). such a shame.

Count me among those that prefer that the NFL stay away from Orange County and Los Angeles. For some reason, So Cal gets treated like some pawn in a chess match, and not a legitmate fan town.
I haven't seen a football game since the Rams left, and that's fine by me.

This is very true. I live out here, but I'm from Baltimore, and I live and die with the Ravens. When we play Pittsburgh twice a year, it's pretty much a holiday in both cities. The atmosphere at every Ravens home game is absolutely insane -- in the stadium and in the city.
Most of my friends here root for teams in their home towns.

I was done with the NFL when the Rams went east (ironic, considering they originally started in Cleveland). So I don't care if the NFL ends up with an L.A. franchise or not, but they had better do it at their own expense and not start demanding that taxpayers subsidize them. That would be a bad joke given the times we're living in right now.
