Park & Rides in Woodland Hills- Can we park at the mall?
Hi all,
I just recently moved to Woodland Hills from Glendale. Moreover, I work in Downtown LA. Taking public trans from Glendale to Downtown was a breeze, but I'm struggling with that here in WH.
Any suggestions- other than the Orange Line? I have been thinking to take the Commuter Express bus, but would need to find a Park & Ride to leave my car. Does anyone know if we can leave cars during the day at the Promenade Mall? I've called LADOT and MTA; and no one seems to know whether it's okay to park there.
Any other public trans suggestions?
Thanks!

No.
There are signs there that post "no commuter parking" because of all the office buildings around, you have to go into the mall if you park there. They have a security truck that constantly orbits the parking lot. I don't know how effectively they get people, but I wouldn't risk it. Especially not everyday.
You could try parking at the strip mall on Victory and walking a few blocks. Better yet, bring your bike and lock it to the fence at Warner Center if you can't take it on the bus. Best yet: ride in to Warner Center and enjoy the fresh air and exercise. Don't leave anything on the bike, though, because lights/reflectors will get stolen. Use a secure lock and lock up both wheels and the frame.
Edit: It's also an easy ride/moderate walk (or you can take the Orange Line itself) to the Warner Transit Hub from the Orange Line parking lot at Canoga and Victory, and I think that lot is free. I also think it doesn't fill up.

Sponger,
Thanks for that fyi I hadn't seen any signs posted about the no commuters thing, but I did see the security guard driving around.
Someone at LADot had told me yesterday that I could park at Owensmouth/Erwin; so I assumed it was okay to park at the Promenade. hmmm....
I guess I will have to drive to Encino and park there.
Thanks!

No problem. The signs are at the back of the lot as you walk toward the bus depot. I'll double-check on Thursday to make sure they haven't taken them down and post something if they're gone.

There is definately no parking at the Promenade for commuters. Why dont you just park at the hub on Canoga and Victory (behind the new Pet Smart) and take the Orange line to the NoHo subway station? Or, you can just drive to NoHo and take the subway all the way downtown. You can also park in the Nordstroms Rack parking lot on Victory and walk to the Orange line hub one block away.
