I think it's more fear of neighborhoods being gentrified . It's not uncommon for people struggling to find a scapegoat . By people I mean individuals . I'm sure it's not 100% of the people in Boyle heights worried about people coming in and opening galleries and cafes and stuff .

Boyle Heights is now the main neigbborhood where people are talking about or protesting gentrification .
The councilman for the area recently made a statement that the fear of gentrification is overblown and most will be protected due to the cities rent control laws.
Some groups are pretty radical like. "Serve the people " which just plain doesn't want to see white people coming into their area. While others aren't as racist .

It seems likely there will be gentrification in area but it's not going to be full on gentrification like in other cities because of rent control.

And gentrifiers or hipster are definitely not just white.

I'm pretty sure Cambodians aren't well off themselves, so that doesn't make sense.

I think Cambodians (and other Southeast Asian groups) in the US often have the same social ills associated with blacks and Hispanics.

Super ignorant and where I'm from, there are a lot of Hispanic skaters and I've never heard anyone use a term like that.

And do you think all Chicanos should act like stereotypical Chicanos from 1992? They're not "rejecting" their own culture, their own culture is whatever they want it to be.
