Hi,

My friend and I are 16 and we are visiting L.A. in July 2008 and was just wondering whatfun stuff there is to do for teenagers in L.A., especially at nights?
All suggestions still welcome!
Cheers

16+night?
Well movies, bowling, mall, book store, coffee shop, beach, Hollywood.
If you're looking to do something wild and extreme, I won't touch that subject.

I dont know how it is now a days but when I was in High School, there were party crews that throw flyer parties in hotel Conference rooms or banquet halls....hit up the hip asian kids cause they usually know where the dope parties are at. Its the same thing like hitting the clubs in hollywood except when your 16 everything seems to be more fun.

At 16 you are pretty much limited to hanging out in malls as most clubs here are 21 and over with a few 18 and over clubs. Hungryforcheese pretty much summed up what's here for someone your age.

9126 has some good ideas if the OP wants to score drugs, hook up for a one night stand and catch HIV or something, get drunk, get arrested possibly, or shot at.

Yes, I am not into "living the high life" as some would say.

Sounds more like they are trying to live the low life.

Not sure about curfew rules, some places have them. These might be good for day and/or night.

Dodger Game
Universal City Walk
Magic Mountain
Go Karts
Water Parks
Santa Monica Pier
Tram near Palm Springs
JPL Tour
Peterson Automotive Museum
3rd Street Promenade
Gene Autry Museum
Universal Studios Tour
Pickup basketball and volleyball
Go on a small plane ride (like a Cessna 172) around LA
Queen Mary

ok i was gunna say the same thing about flyer parties, minus the "hip asian kids" stuff (do those even exist?), except flyer parties are an environment that might be too ruff for most. i remeber partyin at the alexandria and other downtown spots back in the day. oh so fun. but seriously anyone who thinks they will contract HIV from attending a flyer party is very uneducated and immature. stop being so scared.

but the best thing to do in LA for teens is go to magic mountain. best theme park ever. or if you are on a budget, visit santa monica pier or venice, because im sure you aint coming all the way to LA to go to some mall, or bowling. you can also jump on the train and head on out to hollywood and highland. check out melrose, do some shoppin. or board the blue line to long beach. lots to do. i would suggest the stuff i did when i was 16, but i'l let you figure life out on your own. yes the drugs, the music, the partyin, "sleepovers", the gettin shot at, boy was life exciting. it definitely aint for them softies. its urban life and im glad i lived it...especially glad i lived to tell.

When I was that age (which was almost 9 years ago) there used to be certain underage clubs in L.A. that were really fun. I remember the Whiskey used to have an underage night where it was 16 and over I think. There used to also be a club called Seventeen I think that was ages 15-20 or something like that. I know at least Seventeen isn't there anymore but I would research and see if the Whiskey still does it's underage night or if any other clubs do. It's basically the exact same thing as the 21+ L.A. clubs only the bars only serve sodas and water. It's a fun experience for those underage. I used to meet so many people those nights.

Other fun things to do are:

Santa Monica Pier
3rd St Promenade
Universal Citywalk (A definite must see, although beware they strictly enforce curfew there so if you aren't with parents, they will kick you out after 10pm)
See a movie or go to dinner in Westwood Village. It's a college town, but A LOT of high school age kids hang out there so it's a good way to meet people and a fun environment. That was a main hang out for a lot of my friends when we were 16 and 17.
During the day Venice Beach boardwalk is fun. Everything closes at sunset though.
Hollywood Blvd and Hollywood and Highland. Fun at day and at night.

Hope that helps! It was fun being 16 and living in L.A. so I'm sure visiting will be a blast!
